Re: Payet's and Valencia's injuries
For a red card the question is whether he was 'using excessive force'.

He tackled from behind with studs up, both of which under guidance to referees is deemed "excessive force". And he went in harder than he needed to which by definition is "excessive".

It was a clear red.

does everyone agree there was intent to hurt the player?

Re: Payet's and Valencia's injuries
Wasn't a good tackle obviously, but if it had been against a player from a different team, I'm sure many on here wouldn't consider it that bad and just put it down to being unlucky with the injury. I'm sure anyone who's played footie on here has been tackled a lot worse in their time and not even moaned about it due to not getting injured.

Seem to remember Callum McManaman doing one 10 times worse against Newcastle a few years ago.

Best tackle ever was obviously Schumachers against the French.

Re: Payet's and Valencia's injuries
worst foul ever was Graeme Souness when playing for Rangers Cynically nudged the ball ahead of him so that his Romanianm opponent would go for the ball, only to meet with a violent, thuggish studs high tackle which almost killed the guy Apparently Souness got away with no punishment

It was simple, premeditated assault - there's nothing hysterical about stating the fact.

Re: Payet's and Valencia's injuries
The scissor tackle is not a natural way to tackle someone either. Players must practice it.

The natural way to tackle someone is to slide in from the side or just try to take the ball off the player or kick it out without going to ground.

Don't think I could even do a scissor tackle if I tried.

Who said it was the worse foul EVER?

Oh, that's right, no one

Re: Payet's and Valencia's injuries
You are joking I hope.

It was a scissor tackle from behind. Not much elsecto say apart from the dirty cunt should have been sent off.

Tackling from behind and scissor tackles are outlawed because they cause injuries.

Guess what, Payet is injured.

So this 'hard but fair' line being trotted out. Are people going as far as saying it isn't even a foul?

No deffo a foul Mac... and maybe a borderline red... not sure it's deserving of the WORST foul ever, Assualt, GBH that I have seen hysterically posted on here and OTHER places...
